SACEP Kenya promotes Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) as an integrated approach to climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods. We work with communities to protect, restore and sustainably manage natural ecosystems while strengthening their capacity to withstand climate-related challenges.
What EbA looks like in practice
EbA is not a single technique — it is a way of letting healthy ecosystems do the work of climate adaptation. On the ground it brings together:
- Agroforestry and landscape restoration
- Indigenous tree regeneration and catchment protection
- Sustainable water resource management and soil conservation
- Biodiversity conservation
- Agroecological farming
Nature-based enterprises
Conservation holds when it also pays. We promote nature-based enterprises — including beekeeping, indigenous fruit production and sustainable agricultural value chains — that create livelihood opportunities while safeguarding natural resources.
Where and with whom
Working across Makueni, Machakos, Kitui, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Isiolo and Laikipia counties, SACEP Kenya brings together farmers, women, youth, community institutions, local authorities and development partners to advance locally driven ecosystem restoration and climate resilience.
What we are building toward
Through indigenous knowledge, community participation, partnerships and sustainable natural resource governance, we seek to build healthy ecosystems, secure livelihoods, improve food and water security, and create climate-resilient communities for present and future generations.
Our commitment
Restoring ecosystems. Empowering communities. Building climate resilience.
