Greening Schools Initiative in Tharaka Nithi

SACEP Kenya, with generous support from the Green Growth Initiative (GGI) and Diamond Trust Bank (DTB), is leading the Greening Schools Initiative in Tharaka Nithi County. This program aims to promote environmental sustainability, enhance school nutrition, and support income-generating opportunities through tree planting.

In the first and second rounds of seedling distribution, a total of 20 schools, each received between 400 and 800 seedlings. The types of seedlings distributed include a mix of fruit trees and hardwoods, selected based on the available land and each school’s capacity to manage them.

The participating schools have committed to nurturing the trees, contributing not only to greener school environments but also to long-term ecological and economic benefits. This initiative empowers the younger generation to take an active role in environmental conservation, reinforcing the belief that our environment is our life.

We sincerely thank our partners, GGI and DTB, for their continued support in this noble cause.
