Sustainable Agribusiness and Community Empowerment Partnership (SACEP) is a local NGO in Kenya focused on sustainable development, food and nutrition security, climate resilience, and community empowerment. Committed to environmental conservation and social development, SACEP Kenya partners with governments, donors, and local organizations to drive climate-smart agriculture and community transformation.

Mission

To enhance climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, and socio-economic empowerment of rural communities in Kenya through innovative agribusiness solutions, community-led development, environmental restoration, and capacity building.

Purpose

  • To promote sustainable agribusiness as a catalyst for rural development, food security, and poverty reduction,
  • To strengthen the capacity of local communities to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
  • To empower marginalized groups, especially women and youth, through inclusive economic opportunities and skills development.
  • To foster community-driven environmental conservation and natural resource management.
  • To build strategic partnerships that support locally led solutions for long-term resilience and development.

SACEP Kenya Objectives:

1. Community Empowerment & Social Transformation

  • Empower rural communities through skills training, awareness campaigns, and inclusive development.
  • Promote social transformation through modern agribusiness practices and progressive societal attitudes.
  • Support vulnerable groups including orphans, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.
  • Advocate for gender equity, women’s rights, and alternative rites of passage to end harmful practices like FGM.

2. Sustainable Agribusiness & Livelihoods

  • Promote climate-smart agribusiness to alleviate poverty and improve living standards.
  • Support income-generating activities and vocational training for youth and women.
  • Encourage charitable agribusiness initiatives for inclusive rural economic growth.
  • Train farmers in modern farming and agribusiness management techniques.
  • Establish model farm centers for demonstration and learning.

3. Agricultural Education & Capacity Building

  • Provide agricultural education through partnerships, training, and knowledge dissemination.
  • Establish an agribusiness education center and produce educational materials in multiple formats.
  • Build farmers’ capacity to produce quality food and enhance livelihoods.

4. Environmental Restoration, Sustainability & Climate Action

  • Promote climate-smart agriculture and sustainable development awareness.
  • Implement environmental campaigns including tree planting and conservation efforts.
  • Train youth and school clubs on environmental stewardship and provide tree seedlings.

5. Strategic Partnerships & Institutional Collaboration

  • Forge partnerships with governments, organizations, and stakeholders to achieve shared goals and aspirations.
  • Support like-minded organizations with aligned objectives.

6. Resource Mobilization & Financial Sustainability

  • Mobilize resources through grants, donations, and subscriptions.
  • Apply for support from public and private sectors locally and internationally.
  • Establish an endowment fund for long-term sustainability and transparency.
  • Utilize expert advisory services to enhance effectiveness and accountability.
